Letters
To President Bush
Dear Mr. President,
On a personal level & as a member of Teenangels, I am
grateful that you are our president & leader at this dark
time. Your steadfast resolve is a beacon of light in a long,
dark tunnel, providing hope to the civilized world. Like
all Americans, I have been touched by this tragedy. Classmates
have lost parents, school was evacuated, access roads were
closed. On my way to school each morning, I would see the
skyline of New York, & think, "People travel the world
to see what I see each day." Now there is a gaping hole,
not only in the skyline, but in my heart.
Freedom has never been free. My grandfather used to tell
me stories about how he came to the United States at the
age of sixteen with $1 in his pocket, leaving his family
behind in Poland in order to follow his American dream.
When WWII broke out, he served the country he loved so that
his family & future generations would live in a better
world. Thank you for continuing his dream by guaranteeing
a world free from terrorism. Please know that your calm
determination is an inspiration & example to us all. A
recipient of the Daily Points of Light Award, I formed JOY
(Joining Old & Young), a teen group that brings the joy
of music to senior residents, in the hope of uniting the
generations. Thank you, Mr. President, for ensuring that
the American dream will continue for future generations.
May God bless you, Mr. President.
From a proud American,
Alexis, a Teenangel
