Likoni

The overwhelming feeling of sadness & shock & loss was paramount in this small Island of mine (Ireland ) as so many of the folks here had loved ones living & dying in New York during the terrible attack of September the 11th 2001.

Things were brought home to me by a neighbour who had two daughters living & working in Manhattan. This poor lady was distraught by fear & worry as she hadn't heard from them by e-mail or phone for 36 hours. To say she was in a living hell ,was to put it mildly.

The uppermost fear she had was that they were alive under the rubble but no-one would find them. This proved to be incorrect, as they were in fact visiting friends out of state.

The relief of this poor lady was immense but all she could think of was of all the other families across the world with the same desperate need to know.......Why.

The unity of the World at this sad time was a joy to behold as never in my recollection was a planet so united in it's struggle to obliterate terror......This fight goes on & whilst it does there is hope. Many good people are giving their all in this struggle so that many more can live in hope & unity.
