A Career in Child Advocacy

Unfortunately, the average Child Advocate Lawyer only makes about 33,737 dollars annually in comparison to a private practice lawyer who makes about 200,000 dollars annually. Just because a Child Advocate Lawyer makes less pay than a private practice lawyer doesn't mean they have less responsibilities. In fact, a Child Advocate Lawyer may even have to work twice as hard because it is hard to prove things that happen behind closed doors.

Some of the responsibilities of a Child Advocate Lawyer may include the following; Interviewing clients and witnesses, gathering evidence, examining and cross examining witnesses, writing reports and legal briefs, summarizing cases to juries, just to name a few. All these things don't come easy. In fact, you may have to go to school for several years to obtain the knowledge required to solve cases.

In order to be a lawyer it is best to start learning about law at a young age. There are many high school courses offered to students as a preparation for law school. Some courses that are suggested are; algebra, business law, college preparatory composition, economics, English, foreign languages, psychology, and speech. Once you are ready for collage you need to work on getting your doctorates degree. After you have completed that you can chose the law school of your choice to work towards getting your law degree.
