Nominate a Site

Before filling in our Nominate a Site form, please use this check list to see if your site qualifies for our WiredKids Safe Site Seal!

1. All sites must have a Privacy Policy. The policy must:
a) Be provided by the site's content provider -
If the policy is not from the organization that is responsible for the site's content, the policy is not considered as present.

b) Be easy to find -
It should be clearly referenced from the main page and preferably on all pages in the footer. If the site requests personal information of any kind there must be a link to the privacy policy, conspicuously displayed in close proximity to the request for information.

c) Explain what data/information is collected -
Do you collect personally identifiable information about site visitors and explain that information?
Do you collect aggregate information only?
Do you set cookies?

d) Explain how the data/information is collected -
Do you collect data/information from (any or all) e-mail, cookies, (cookies must not contain any type of tracking or reporting code) registration forms, feedback forms, discussion groups, chatrooms, sweepstakes or contests, online shopping, apply for free offers, mailing lists?

e) Explain what the information is used for -
Demographics to help design your site better? Internal marketing? Mailing lists? Third-party advertising? Affiliate marketing? Offline mailings? Demographics for advertisers and site sponsors?

2. There must be no adult themes (i.e., sexually explicit, drug related, violence oriented, defamatory to any people or class of people, hate oriented), either graphic or text.

3. There must be no links to the above type of content.

4. If the site includes communication venues (Chat, forums, bulletin boards, etc.) and children are allowed to participate, a moderator must be present at all times. If children are not allowed to participate, the site must post their participation requirements.

5. Sites must not contain any pop-overs, pop-unders, or other involuntary re-directs to non-safe sites.

Our rules are very stringent for a site to earn this award, and our Safe Site Seal is only given to sites that we believe offer something special for families and especially for children. We look for sites that encourage learning, literacy and are also fun and, most importantly, safe!
