There is a Stock Market for kids with a flare for finance. Sometimes you will have what they call a "Random Event". These happen anytime, in the middle of a game or just while looking around Neopia. Most of the time, Random Events are good things. Like finding 100 Neopoints on the ground, or free food for your Neopets. Occasionally bad random events can happen, such as the "Pant Devil" will appear and steal something from you, from points to objects. So I suggest you keep your expensive Faerie Paintbrush safely tucked away in your Safety Deposit Box where the Pant Devil can not go.

Just as there are many different kinds of Neopets, the Neopets themselves can have pets. These are called "Petpets". Such as a BaBaa or Angelpuss's. Giving your Neopet a pet of its own helps to keep him or her happy and you don't have to worry about feeding the Petpet.

In the land of Neopia, children from all over the world are playing at the same time. You can visit other peoples shops or even make a "Neofriend". You can exchange Neomails with your Neofriends and share items that you find or buy in Neopia. My Mom likes this site because it is very safe for children to play on. You are not able to give out URL's or email addresses in your Neomails. There is no swearing allowed either. If you try to send a Neomail with any of these things, the mail will not send and you will get a warning.
