Parents Are Watching...and Other Secret Codes

Kids know that parents might try to supervise their chats & see what’s going on in the chatroom. They know that most parents wouldn’t understand half of what goes on in a lively chatroom. So they have invented special acronyms to warn the others when parents & others are hovering nearby. These include (in either capitals or lowercase letters):

CTN = Can’t Talk Now
NP = Nosy Parents
P911 = My parents are coming in the room! Watch your language!
PA = Parent Alert
PAL = Parents Are Listening
PAN or PANB = Parents Are Nearby
PAW = Parents Are Watching
POS = Parents Over Shoulder
SA = Sibling Alert
TA = Teacher Alert

Remember...being forewarned is being forearmed.
